Sour Cream Biscuits
Sour Cream Biscuits
Ingredients:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
2 teaspoons sugar
1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup butter
1/4 cup milk
1/2 cup sour cream
Directions:
Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
In a bowl stir together flour, baking powder, sugar, cream of tartar, and salt. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Make a well in the center; add milk and sour cream. Stir until dough just comes together.
On a lightly floured work surface, knead dough gently for 10 to 12 strokes just to bring it together. Roll or pat dough into a rectangle. Bring one of the short ends over, folding at the 1/3 mark. Repeat with the other short end to create an envelope fold.
Pat or roll dough into a rectangle and repeat the folding process 2 more times.
Roll dough out to 3/4-inch thickness. Cut using a 2 1/2-inch biscuit cutter or glass. Alternatively, cut dough into squares using a bench scraper or sharp knife. Place biscuits on a parchment-lined baking sheet. Brush with milk if desired.
Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until golden.
